Workshops & Projects

I have always been really passionate about Art as therapy, which led me to work with all kinds of different people and on mental health wards and hospitals around London. I was lucky enough to work with and learn from an amazing Art Therapist, which led me to being accepted to study at Goldsmiths to do an MA in Art Psychotherapy…….but I wasn`t quite ready to be a therapist, so I moved to Sydney to spend one blissful year making Art in the sun!

As a result of all my experience of working with many different groups of people; my community work as an Artist is really important to my practice and in September 2017 I was very happy to qualify as an Integrative Psychotherapist.

I have over ten years of experience of working as a freelance Artist, some of the projects I have developed and facilitated are; Banardos group , Start Arts on Prescription workshops in Salford , New Ghosts Project, East Lancashire Arts on Prescription projects in Clitheroe and Burnley, Tipp project with young mums in Salford, Open shop Project at Haworth Gallery and The Talking Tower exhibition.

Whitworth Gallery family picnic….

I spent a lovely Saturday facilitating a family picnic day at the Whitworth Art Gallery….yes an indoor picnic complete with blankets and baskets! Families bring their own picnic and create Art as a family- such a lovely idea! The workshop I delivered was inspired by the Beyond Borders exhibition.

My daughter Ruby loved the picnic idea, preferring to do an umbrella dance rather than than the workshop!

Royal Exchange wood block printing workshop

I had a lovely morning at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. A group of talented adults came along for a wood block printing workshop…

We started off by making a rubber stamp using japanese wood carving tools…

We then moved on to work with plywood…the results and the atmosphere of the workshop was so experimental and creative. I`m afraid these photos I quickly took don`t do the work justice. I hope to be back at the Royal Exchange again soon it was such an inspiring place to be creative in.

Banardos group…

I`ve been working with a group of young people since October…the young people had such lovely ideas and their designs were so beautiful! We worked on creating a three-dimensional piece to include all of the group members designs, so as the piece represented the group, which they named, ‘ Teens Go Wild.’ The piece is now on display at Walkden Health Centre brightening up their foyer!

These are the things the group members said when asked what they liked most about the group…my favourite is, ‘walking in the park in crunchy green grass’ and ‘Fabulouse’ !

Miniature house workshops…

I have spent the last couple of Saturdays at the Haworth Gallery and Rosendale Museum, having lovely afternoons making these miniature rooms…here are a few of my favourites…including happy robots, ghosts, blue dogs there was no limit to the imagination that was used!  Thanks to everyone who came along.

Rosendale Museum is a cabinet of curiosities- AMAZING! and so inspiring.

Haworth Gallery is equally as inspiring with so many stories behind the gallery…

Amazing book art….

I don`t know whether you read my last post, but the artist has kindly sent me some images to show her progress. I`m SO excited to blog about this, I can`t believe how AMAZING it looks! To see more of this artists` work you can visit her blog here

Look carefully it took me a while to see the tiny paper boat drifting down the stream…apparently it`s not quite finished, so hopefully i`ll be able to post some pictures of the finished piece.
